IRL: Scott Goodyear Makes Good Run at Charlotte
1 May 1999
Scott Goodyear and the Pennzoil Panther Pack put out another great qualifying effort this evening at the Lowe's Motor Speedway for the Visionaire 500 and are feeling a sense of deja vu. Goodyear had qualified third last month at the Phoenix MCI Worldcom 200 and then took the checkered flag. Goodyear qualified 3rd for tomorrow's race with a time of 24.427 seconds, 221.067 miles per hour. "We were in this same position at Phoenix and I think the results show that starting from the 3rd spot may not be too bad for us", said Goodyear. "We were really consistent in testing and race conditions at Phoenix and we're seeing that same consistency here at Charlotte so I feel pretty confident for tomorrow."Goodyear goes into the race as the points leader of the Pep Boys Indy Racing League series with 93 points.
Goodyear will line up behind Greg Ray, 222.039 and Scott Sharp, 221.239 when the Visionaire 500 begins at 8 p.m. eastern time.
