1 May 1999
HARRISBURG, N.C. -- Pro-Motor Engineering (PME), a NASCAR engine builder, has selected Cotter Group to manage its public relations program.PME, owned by Peter Guild (pronounced Guyld), is one of two independent engine builders in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. The company provides engines to the No. 9 Melling Racing team (driver Jerry Nadeau), the No. 23 Travis Carter Enterprises team (driver Jimmy Spencer), and the No. 66 Haas/Carter Racing team (driver Darrell Waltrip) in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. The Mooresville, N.C.-based company also builds engines for NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series teams.
"Pro-Motor Engineering diversifies our NASCAR client base," said Mark Ethridge, president of Cotter Group. "Also, it offers the unique opportunity of promoting an engine builder as opposed to a race team, such as our relationship with Mercedes-Benz USA in the CART series."
Megan Montgomery, a Charlotte, N.C., native, will serve as the account representative for PME. She received a bachelors degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997. Montgomery will handle at-track media relations for a select number of NASCAR Winston Cup races and overall off-track publicity.
Opened in 1988 by two public relations professionals, Cotter Group has grown into a 60-person, full-service marketing communications agency, specializing in public relations, publicity, event management, mobile marketing, promotions, sponsorship coordination and publishing. Cotter Group maximizes the investments of companies that utilize motor sports in their marketing mix.
