IHRA: Wally Stroupe Rehospitalized
23 April 1999
Kings Mountain, NC-- Wally Stroupe proved his toughness when he took the wheel of his Trim Parts-sponsored, 1963 Corvette a week after an emergency appendectomy. His toughness was put to the test, days after his return from the Holley Spring Nationals in Rockingham, NC.Stroupe became violently ill and had to be rushed to Gaston Memorial Hospital in the middle of the week. Doctors made a wise decision to do emergency surgery and during the course of the operation, they discovered gangrene had set in. According to Wally's father and attending physicians, the surgery saved his life.
He was scheduled to be released today, but an unfavorable white cell count prevented it. Stroupe plans to come home tommorrow.
