IHRA: Wally Stroupe Hospitalized with Illness

KINGS MOUNTAIN, NC--- Pro Modified racer Wally Stroupe was released today from his local hospital in Kings Mountain, N.C., after having to undergo emergency surgery on Thursday to remove his appendix. He was initially released after a brief recovery period, but readmitted after an infection was discovered.Stroupe is not expected to be in competition at this weekend's Holley Spring Nationals in Rockingham, N.C., but may attend the event as a spectator. However, his attendance is highly unlikely.

Wally Stroupes Trim Parts-sponsored team will return to competition on May 8 for the rescheduled IHRA Prolong Winter Nationals. Stroupe, along with each Pro Modified contestant will be afforded one time trial run and will compete in eliminations later that afternoon. The event will be televised on ESPN2 with the dates TBA in an upcoming issue of the IHRA's Drag Review magazine.
