NASCAR SJAPS: Changes announced for '99 All Pro Series Schedule

31 March 1999

DAYTONA BEACH, FL-One new race and one venue change to the 1999 Slim Jim All Pro Series, part of NASCAR's Touring Division, schedule were announced today by NASCAR officials.

"We are pleased to announce that Kingsport (Tenn.) Speedway has stepped in to fill the void that was created when Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway cancelled their Slim Jim All Pro Series event," stated Dennis Huth, NASCAR's Vice President for Administration. "Kingsport's facility will prove to be a challenge to the drivers and teams, and should be a crowd-pleasing race for the fans in eastern Tennessee."

Huth went on to announce an addition to the schedule, "Caraway (N.C.) Speedway has also decided to run a second series event in 1999. As a result, Caraway, Lanier (Ga.) National Speedway and Greenville-Pickens (S.C.) Speedway will each host two events in 1999, bringing the schedule up to a total of 18 races this year."

The Slim Jim All Pro Series schedule will take drivers to eight states throughout the southeastern United States and drivers will compete for over $1,000,000 in race purse and point fund monies. Four events will be held in North Carolina and Tennessee while South Carolina tracks will be the site for three races. Two races will be held in both Florida and Georgia. One race will be held at tracks in Illinois, Kentucky and Virginia.
