NASCAR-BGN: Barbasol Ford Owner Will Act as Crew Chief in Nashville Busch Race
30 March 1999
MOORESVILLE, N.C. NASCAR Busch Series team owner Bob Sutton Jr. announced today that he will act as crew chief for the Barbasol Ford driven by Glenn Allen in the BellSouth Mobility 320 at Nashville Speedway.Sutton, co-owner of Akins/Sutton Motorsports, said the change has been made because of the resignation of Dean Johnson, who was in his first season as crew chief of the Barbasol Ford.
We knew it would take time for this team to gel, and we were confident Dean could do the job, Sutton said. His resignation comes as a surprise to me. We felt things were going fine and we saw improvement each week. I am going to act as crew chief in Nashville this week and at the same time we will be looking for a new crew chief.
Allen has started four of the six NASCAR Busch Series races this season and finished a season high of ninth at Atlanta Motor Speedway. On Saturday Allen finished 27th in the Coca-Cola 300. He is currently 30th in the NASCAR Busch Series points race.
