NASCAR WCUP: Fans have a chance to win a Texas Motor Speedway pace car

17 March 1999

FORT WORTH-DALLAS-- Forty-two lucky race fans will have the chance to drive away from the March 28 PRIMESTAR 500 in a Texas Motor Speedway pace car ... if they draw the winning driver.

As part of the "1999 Texas Motor Speedway Pace Car Giveaway," each of the contestants will draw the car number of a driver in the starting field of the PRIMESTAR 500. If that driver wins the race, the lucky fan will win a Texas Motor Speedway pace car. Other prizes, such as driving schools and race tickets, will be awarded for five other categories including highest finishing rookie, leader at the halfway point and highest place finisher from the Coca-Cola Family of Drivers. Fans will have several ways to become eligible for the contest. Twelve of the finalists will have a chance to enter through local promotions prior to race week. Four winners will be drawn from each of the following register-to-win opportunities: at special Coca-Cola displays in all Fort Worth-Dallas Kroger stores; special displays at local Winn Dixie stores; and through The Dallas Morning News by registering at local participating Chevron and NAPA Auto Parts Stores or by clipping and sending in the entry form found in The Dallas Morning News. The remaining 30 participants will be fans in "lucky seats" attending the Friday March 26 Coors Light Qualifying Day, the March 27 Coca-Cola 300 and the March 28 PRIMESTAR 500.

The forty-two finalists and a guest will watch the race and cheer for their driver from a luxury suite.

"We thought this would be something fun and different for the fans," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "Many contests award prizes by simply drawing names. Were making it more interesting by giving each finalist two seats in one of our luxury suites where they can cheer for their selected driver with the chance of winning some great prizes."
