NHRA: 'Frozen Out' First Race in 1999 Team Kendall Challenge Make Up Date Announced
16 March 1999
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The first race in the 1999 Team Kendall Challenge, Indianapolis Raceway Park's events in the nationwide NHRA Sears Craftsman E.T. Racing Series, has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 27.Extremely cold temperatures forced cancellation of the planned first weekend of activity on the world-famous drag strip from March 13 and 14 to March 20 and 21. As noted in a previous announcement, the tune and test session originally scheduled for Saturday, March 13 will be conducted this Saturday, March 20, while the opening event in this year's Team Kendall Challenge will take place on Sunday, March 21.
Rescheduling of the March 14 event to March 27 brings another race to that weekend, as a Team Kendall Challenge race is scheduled for Sunday, March 28.
"We hadn't scheduled any Team Kendall Challenge races for Saturdays this season," explained Jeff Dakin, IRP's Director of Operations, "but this particular Saturday is open, and it seemed proper to make up the event we lost by placing in on that date.
On both Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28, gates at IRP will open at 8:00 a.m., with technical inspection beginning at the same time. Time Trials will begin at 9:00 a.m., and eliminations are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
