NASCAR WCUP: Buckshot Jones prepares for Atlanta
11 March 1999
"We always ran well at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Busch Series car and I made my Winston Cup debut here as well in 1997. We also tested here with a Winston Cup car twice last year because we were thinking of running a race, so I think I have some good experience under my belt that will help us this weekend."-Buckshot Jones, driver of the Crown Fiber Communications PontiacAtlanta Motor Speedway / NASCAR Busch Series Results

Facts about Buckshot and his hometown state of Georgia:
- Buckshot grew up in Tucker, Ga., and was a starting defensive back at Tucker High School.
- His favorite place to go when he is in Atlanta is his familys farm in Monticello, Ga., where he can hunt deer and turkey and fish for bass on his choice of three ponds.
- He met his wife Jina when they were just kids. She was a cheerleader and he played football in the Atlanta area.
- He graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelors degree in Business Management.
- He started racing in 1990 at Lanier Raceway in the All-American Division, while attending the University of Georgia. "Ive competed here in both a Busch Series and Winston Cup car, but there are major differences. You can run wide open in the Busch car, but you can t do that in the Winston Cup car. The lines that we drive in both series are the same, but I think the horsepower is the biggest difference I need to get used to. The Winston Cup cars are so competitive and the times are so close that you have to be dead on with your adjustments to the car. This is a tough track because one slip can put you into the wall, but if youre too cautious you wont go fast enough."
