Tracks: Details are a Priority at the Speedway Club

5 March 1999

FORT WORTH-DALLAS -- Imported crystal chandeliers, sterling silver service, leather chairs with historical significance, an original 60x10 Texas mural -- at every turn, The Speedway Club will impress members with the attention to detail.

"We have made every effort to make this a truly unique experience," said club general manager Bernard van Mourik. "From the moment you walk into the sparkling glass atrium lobby, you will be treated to a level of service unparalleled in the Fort Worth-Dallas area.

"The smallest details were not an afterthought -- they have been part of the plan since the beginning. We have always had very specific ideas of what this club should be, and that is first class all the way."

The three-tiered Starlight Room restaurant, which is enclosed on three sides by 29-foot high glass walls, offers a spectacular view of the speedway and beyond. Those dining in the Starlight Room will be surrounded by rich cherry wood paneling with handsome walnut accents.

True to its name, those dining in the Starlight Room will indeed find themselves dancing beneath a starry Texas sky. Thanks to a unique fiber optic display in the dance floor ceiling, the stars seemingly twinkle in the beautifully painted sky overhead. Similar lighting systems are found in Caesars Palace and the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. The 400-sqaure-foot dance floor, which towers above the two lower levels of the restaurant, is done in Italian marble. Deep black with 24 karat gold flecks throughout, the shimmering floor reflects not only the dancing couples but also the "starry sky" above.

Guests may also find the hand-crafted leather seats to be not only beautiful but somewhat familiar. Those who have visited the state capitol in Austin may actually recognize them. The chairs are replicas of those found on the floor of the Texas State House of Representatives and Senate, which have been in use since their design in 1855.

Another unique reminder of the great State of Texas will be found in the 26,000 square-foot ballroom located on the top floor of the nine-story structure. Three sides of the ballroom will be 29-foot high panels of glass -- the only of its kind in all of Fort Worth-Dallas. On the back wall of the room will be an original 60 x 10 mural by artist Michael Rosato depicting scenes - - both historical and modern - - of the Fort Worth-Dallas region.

The ballroom, which can comfortably seat 1,000, is one of the largest in the metropolitan area. Twenty-four six-foot crystal chandeliers imported from Italy will illuminate the room with shimmering light. Guests will receive the most elegant service including crystal, fine china, and sterling silver place settings. The silver service is produced by Sambonet, the same company who has produced specialty silver service for the Kremlin and Englands Royal Family.

"Were very proud of the fact that we serve our members and guests with only the best," said assistant general manager Andy Osborne. "You wont find another resort in this area that uses only fine china, crystal and all sterling silver -- its an extra touch of class."

In addition to state-of-the-art equipment, the health club and spa will also offer a variety of special touches. Both male and female members will enjoy the use of cherry wood lockers, custom-made cowhide chairs at an expansive mirrored and lighted vanity area, and ergonomically designed lounge chairs and couches.
