TRACKS: Wayne Newton Scheduled for Opening Gala of The Speedway Club

FORT WORTH-DALLAS - Legendary entertainer Wayne Newton will bring his renown Las Vegas show to Texas Motor Speedway for the March 25 gala opening of The Speedway Club.

"Wayne Newton is exactly the caliber entertainer we wanted for the gala opening," said The Speedway Club General Manager Bernard van Mourik. "Members are already calling to purchase their seats for the show."

The "black-tie optional" event -- part of the PRIMESTAR 500 race week activities -- will take place in the 26,000 square-foot ballroom located on the top floor of The Speedway Club. Newton, who has performed live for more than 30 million people in his career, is ready to bring his high energy show to Texas.

"Texas has always been one of my favorite places in the world to perform because Texans are the best audiences in the world," said Newton. "Maybe because of their philosophy of life which is If you didnt come to party, take your dead butts home. We cant wait!"

There will be approximately 700 seats available for the event.

"Our initial plan was to offer tickets to club members first and then to the general public," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "Based on the response were receiving from members, there may not be any left to sell to the public. Members have until March 15 to reserve their seats, so Im sure well have a better idea on availability as we get closer to that date."
