NASCAR WCUP: Michael Waltrip has a million reasons to look forward to Las Vegas 400

25 February 1999

HARRISBURG, N.C.-- Michael Waltrip carries plenty of incentive with him as he heads into the Las Vegas 400. Not only is the driver of the consumer electronics giant backed-Philips Chevrolet holding onto seventh spot in the NASCAR Winston Cup point standings, he also has a chance to win the "Winston No Bull 5" $1 million bonus during the 400.5 mile event March 7 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Michael Waltrip on...

....competing for the "Winston No Bull 5" $1 million bonus: "Just to race at that beautiful facility in Las Vegas is a tremendous amount of fun. And now, we have something extra that we can all talk about and prepare for, and thats the chance for this Philips team to win an extra million bucks from Winston.

"Its been great to talk about it for the past couple weeks. But, when you get in the race car, you stop thinking about what it pays or what youre going to win. Youre just totally thinking about the race car and the race. When its all over and were standing in victory lane at Las Vegas, then it ll be a lot of fun to celebrate.

"Ive been to Las Vegas lots of times thinking I was going to win a million dollars, but this is the best chance Ive ever had to actually win it."

....the "Winston No Bull 5" program:

"The neatest thing about that whole program is the fans. Thats just like hitting the lottery. For a fan to get the chance to team up with a driver and win a million dollars is an awesome deal."
