Brazilian Racing News: South American F-3
24 February 1999
The South-American F-3 starts in March and the brazilian drivers are very confident that they will clinch the title--which hasn't gone to a brazilian since Bruno Junqueira in 1996. The favorites are Jaime Mello Jr. and Leonardo Nienkotter, both sponsored by Petrobrás. Petrobrás has 4 drivers in the championship, and 2 teams and will sponsor the best 2 drivers of the season for the F-1 Junior in 2000 (former F-3000). Mello will race for the new Avallone Motorsport Team (Avallone is a former Jordan F-1 engineer) alongside newcomer André Nicastro, that is coming from Karts, while Nienkotter and Duda Pamplona will race for Prop Car. All races will be held in double rounds, and the only two dates and venues that are confirmed are 14 and 15th May in Rio de Janeiro, on the oval. Marc Zimmermann -- The Auto Channel
