Brazilian Racing News: Flavio Nono Figueiredo Signs up with Petrobras for SATCC

Flávio Nonô Figueiredo will be the third brazilian to race in the 1999 South American Touring Car Championship. Nonô will race for the Petrobrás BMW Team and is very confident for the first race in Córdoba on March 21st. "I am sure I will have a very good car, and I hope that Petrobrás will soon get all right with BMW in Munich, so that I can start my testing. I dont know all tracks, but I am sure that if I have a good car, well balanced, I will have an easy time on each new track" said the former British Vectra driver. Nonô was second in the 1998 Vectra Challenge, and had many invitations to race in BTCC, but couldnt setup his sponsors to it, so he will be staying 1999 in Brazil, and hopes to get a very good drive in the BTCC 2000. Nonô will race with the same car as Ingo Hoffmann, with the official team, Proas, while Cacá Bueno will once again race with the Peugeot 406. Oscar Larrauri, that changed from BMW to Alfa Romeo, will be one of the man to beat in 1999. He will race the new Alfa 156 and is very confident for this season. The 1999 will have 10 race, 2 of them outside Brazil and Argentina, will be in Paraguay and Uruguay. Marc Zimmermann -- The Auto Channel
