NHRA: RCL Components Signs with Kessinger Motorsports Pro Stock Truck Team
7 February 1999
Lawrenceburg, Ky -- RCL Components, Inc., a corporation known world-wide for remanufacturing ground support equipment for FedEx and American Airlines, announced today that it will assume major sponsorship of the Kessinger Motorsports Chevy S-10 fielded by former Pro Stock driver Mark Osborne in the 1999 NHRA Pro Stock Truck Series."We feel this is a marketing outlet that we share in common with all our customers," said Chris Davis, Owner and President of RCL Components, Inc., based in Bogart, Ga. With this commitment to back the Kessinger Motorsports Chevy S-10, RCL becomes one of the major corporate sponsor pioneers in NHRA's Pro Stock Truck division, which will begin its second season as a professional drag-racing category at the AutoZone Winternationals in Pomona, Calif., on Feb. 4-7,1999.
Forming this partnership with Kessinger Motorsports, RCL substantially increases the amount of investment made in the NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series. "My final decision for sponsorship was based on customer recognition and client association," commented Davis, whose company also supported Mark Osborne in the Pro Stock category in 1998. "Our customers are the mechanics who work on ground support equipment and trucks, and the management team that supports their efforts."
Debuting the RCL Components Pro Stock Truck at Pomona is Osborne, 37, of Abingdon, Virginia, who will be entering his first season of competition in this division. However, with 20 years of racing experience and his fifth-place finish in the Winston Pro Stock Points Standings last season, he is not a novice in drag racing. "RCL was very pleased with the exposure the associate sponsorship gave us last year with Osborne," said Davis. Admitting his reluctance at first to enter the newly formed Pro Stock Truck class, he added, "Due to the astonishing increase in popularity of the trucks that I witnessed personally, and the introduction to the Kessinger Motorsports team, I was convinced to make the move."
Jim Kessinger, owner of the Chevy S-10 Pro Stock Truck team, is committed to making his program top notch. "We at Kessinger Motorsports are ecstatic about the sponsorship with RCL Components," he stated. "The team is eager to furnish RCL with tremendous marketing opportunities and unique methods of exposure for both Mr. Davis and company, as well as his major business affiliates."
"Jim's philosophy of investing in the best and expecting a positive return coincides with that of RCL and our customers," remarked Davis. "I'm not sure who wants to win more, Jim or Mark, but this certainly is a win for RCL."
RCL Components, Inc., remanufactures equipment ranging from the large cargo loaders and de-icers, to the push-back tractors and ground power units. After completion of this process, the equipment should be capable of at least 10 more years of service before retirement.
