NHRA: Holley Puts Dominator Umbrella Over NHRA Pro Stock Program

GLENDORA, Calif. -- Holley Performance Products, Inc. will sponsor qualifying bonus programs for Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle and Pro Stock Truck categories in 1999, NHRA President Dallas Gardner announced.The Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel will feature a combined total payout of $239,000 including awards and bonuses for the three separate programs. The Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel for Pro Stock cars will take place May 22 at the Mopar Parts Nationals in Englishtown, N.J. The Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel for Pro Stock Motorcycle competitors will be held Sept. 4 at the prestigious U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, and the new Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel for Pro Stock Truck will be held June 4 at the Route 66 Raceway, near Chicago.
The eight competitors in each category accumulating the most points during qualifying at NHRA national events prior to each Duel event will earn a berth in their categorys respective Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel.

In addition to being a major NHRA contingency sponsor, Holley also sponsored the popular Holley 6-Second Club for Pro Stock competitors from 1994 to 1997. The 16-car club, open to NHRA Pro Stock competitors who posted quarter-mile runs under seven seconds, was completed April 11, 1997 when Mike Thomas claimed the 16th position.
"The Pro Stock categories are among the fastest growing in both participation and spectator interest in NHRA Winston Drag Racing," said Gardner. "The competition is fierce in Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle and Pro Stock Truck, with races consistently won by mere inches at the finish line. Perhaps our Pro Stock categories feature the most competitive racing in all of motorsports. With Holleys involvement in the Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel Series the competitive desires for drivers in each of the three Pro Stock categories will be greatly intensified."
