NASCAR/NHRA: Gumout to Partner with Joe Gibbs Racing

Automotive Chemicals Brand Becomes Associate Sponsor On All Joe Gibbs' NASCAR and NHRA Cars

HOUSTON - Pennzoil-Quaker State Company -- maker of Gumout brand automotive chemicals -- announced today that Gumout has struck a significant associate sponsorship agreement with Joe Gibbs Racing. In a move that will broaden Gumout's reach to a variety of motorsports audiences, the brand will adorn all of Gibbs' NASCAR and NHRA race cars beginning in 1999.

The three-year deal calls for Gumout to become a part of the #18 Pontiac of Bobby Labonte and the #20 Pontiac driven by rookie Tony Stewart in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Gumout will also be an associate sponsor of the Busch Series car that Labonte and J.D. Gibbs will race in 1999. In the NHRA, Gumout will become the associate sponsor of Cory McClenathan's Top Fuel car and Cruz Pedregon's Funny Car. As part of the deal, sister brand Pennzoil will become the official motor oil of Joe Gibbs Racing.

"Gumout is a brand with a long history of performance and quality, so we are proud to display its logo, but having such a brand become part of each one of our cars is doubly rewarding. We plan to play an integral role in helping to build the Gumout brand."
