TalonTek Shows On Board Personal Computer at AAIW 1998
5 November 1998
TalonTek Systems Inc. is showing off a high-tech accessory at this
year's SEMA show. Specialty equipment, indeed: it's a pentium 200
with MMX for your vehicle. The unit is an industrial computer that
can withstand temperature ranges from freezing to 120 degrees
fahrenheit, and shocks that measure up to a G-force of 2. The
computer uses universal serial bus (USB) ports to allow a total of 254
peripheral devices (think cameras, scanners, printers, etc.), comes
with a touch sensitive screen, and uses infrared technology to accept
input from your keyboard and mouse. The company expects to include
dvd technology soon--when it irons out that feature, the unit will
double as a entertainment center for your car, capable of showing
feature films as well as handling all your computing needs.
The OS? Windows98, but don't let that steer you away from attempting a Linux install.
Yahoo, here come the highway hackers.
