IHRA: Scotty Cannon to Return to Onsat Banner to Complete 1998 Season

7 October 1998

LYMAN, SC: He carried the logo proudly for many years and it seems only fitting that he wears it when he is officially crowned to his sixth IHRA Pro Modified World Championship. Cannon, the veteran Pro Modified racer from Lyman, S.C., will once again adorn his record-holding, 1953 Studebaker with the ONSAT Satellite Programming Guide moniker. This most recent move is in light of Triple D Publishings discontinuation of the Cable TV Magazine title.

Triple D Publications Doug Brown, Sr. regrets the change, but thinks it is fitting that ONSAT return to Cannons machine.

"We have been a part of Scotty Cannons racing operations since 1989 with the ONSAT title," explained Brown. "We felt it might be a good marketing to tool to help us promote a new product with Cable TV Magazine. Unfortunately, new products arent always successful. Its a part of business. We are proud to be a part of Scotty's racing and enjoy the effort he has put forth on our behalf."

Cannons final stop on the IHRA/Snap-On Tools tour will take place next weekend at the IHRA World Finals in Shreveport, La., where he will make a bid for an unprecedented sixth Pro Modified national event victory in the 1998 season.
