NASCAR Trucks: Red Man Team Rebounds with Good Finish at Gateway

22 September 1998

Central City, Kentucky -Scot Walters and the Red Man/Brewco Motorsports team came to Madison, Illinois for the Ram Tough 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race with something to prove. They were determined not to let the disappointment of last weeks engine failure affect their run in the shadows of the St. Louis Arch. The team lived up to their determination with a strong run from the 23rd starting position to a 9th place finish by races end.

"This team has been down at certain points of the season," said Walters. "But they never give up. Every week the guys on the Red Man team give 110% to get this truck to the front, and its nice when your hard work is rewarded with a solid finish. This is great for these guys. You can look on their faces and see what it means."

The 9th place finish is the Red Man team's second best performance of the year and third top 10 finish of the season. The other top 10 finishes came at Miami-Dada Homestead Motorsports Complex (10), and Nashville Speedway USA (8).

The top 10 performance also moved the Red Man/Brewco Motorsports team to within 171 points of fifteenth place in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Point Standings. A goal that the team set early in the year, and that is still attainable with five races remaining on the 1998 schedule.

"We just need to finish out the year with strong performances and the points will come to us," said Walters. "If we can continue to run and finish in the top fifteen the points will come and we can move up in the standings."
