MEDIA NOTES: Australian David Besnard easily won the first Mid-Ohio F2000 race this year, at the Road Racing Classic in June, earning the pole and leading flag-to-flag to increase his points lead over Ryan Hampton to 50. In the three races since, Hampton has won two, and cut the lead to 19 with four races remaining.
Besnard is on pace for a record-setting season. He has already eclipsed the season earnings record with $41,250 (old record, $32,200, Steve Knapp, 1996). With four races remaining, he is also two poles and wins away from tying season records (poles: 7, Knapp, 1996; wins: 7, Chris Simmons, 1993).
