Brazilian Racing News: Emmo and Piquet to Manage Jacarepagua
5 August 1998
Emerson Fittipaldi and Nelson Piquet got the rights to manage the Jacarepagua Circuit for the next ten years from the mayor of Rio de Janeiro. They will have PPE Empreendimentos e Participacoes and Projeto S/A as partners in the deal. They don't want to only promote races, they want to promote many music shows, and to build a restaurant, a museum, and a shopping center. Emerson wants to put lights on the track, to promote night races and maybe even a night CART race. They will also have a kart and cars racing school. The promoters have the lease for ten years, with a ten year conditional renewal, depending on the approval of the mayor. "We want to make Jacarepagua become one of the best racing places in the world, and we want to encourage Brazilians young guys to go racing." said Fittipaldi.
