AMA: 1998 AMA/Prostar Motorcycle Drag Racing Series, Fact Sheet

WHAT: Inaugural Street Fighter Nationals. The third stop of the 1998
AMA/Prostar Motorcycle Drag Racing Series.

WHEN: July 10-12, 1998

WHERE: Route 66 Dragway, Joliet, Illinois. The track is approximately 30 miles south of Chicago on Route 53 (Historic Route 66) about two miles south of Interstate 80 in Joliet. From points south, take Interstate 55 North to Interstate 80 East or Interstate 57 North to Interstate 80 West to Exit 132. From points east and west, take Interstate 80 to Exit 132 (Route 53) and follow Route 53 South to the track. Follow the signs to parking.

SCHEDULE:
FRIDAY: Gates open at 7 a.m. Qualifying for some classes begin at 9:00 a.m., professional classes qualify at 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The road course portion of the Streetbike Shootout will be run at 5:30.

SATURDAY: Gates open at 7 a.m. Qualifying for some classes begin at 9:00 a.m., professional classes qualify at 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Some sportsman categories receive their first round of elimination's at 1:00 p.m.

SUNDAY: Gates open at 7:30 a.m. A non-denominational chapel service begins at 8:15 a.m.; sportsman categories enter elimination's at 9:00 a.m. Opening ceremonies and professional category elimination's begin at 11:00 a.m.

FEATURE: More than 500 racers in 14 categories. Featuring Top Fuel bikes, the quickest motorcycle class in the world with speeds exceeding 230 mph, 6-second, nitrous oxide powered, Pro Mods, turbocharged Funny Bikes, factory hot rod Pro Stocks, showroom stock street bikes, and several others in side-by-side racing. Also, manufacturers row features top vendors and manufacturers on display, and a special paved motorcycle parking area is also available. On Sunday, a special exhibition will feature Bubba Blackwell jumping his motorcycle over twelve semi-trucks.

TICKETS: Adults $20 each day; $35 two-day; $40 three day, Juniors (2-12 years old) $5 each day, Children (under 2) are free with paid adult. AMA members and groups $15 per day with membership card and photo ID.
