The 21-year-old from Curitiba made his usual excellent start from pole to lead into the first corner and was never headed from then on. 'Ever since I was in Formula Renault Sport when I go into the lead at the start, bam, bam, bam. I put in three or four very fast laps. If you do that then the guy behind starts to lose his will to win and begins to look in his mirrors rather than trying to catch me.' said Bernoldi.
Two other Brazilians were second and third with Paul Stewart Racing. Luciano Burti was second leading team mate Mario Haberfeld.
Dane Kristian Kolby arrived 4th, but he said that he had found it difficult to make a passing move count on the 3.19mile circuit. 'They kept making mistakes; putting wheels on the kerb and all sorts of things but they got away with it every time,' said the Dane.
