"I think what has attracted me from day one to Speedvision is their absolute commitment to motorsports, as well as the loyalty of their people," commented Daly, who spent five seasons in Formula One before coming to Indy cars in 1982. "This is a great opportunity for everyone involved. Television is such a powerful tool and I believe we can contribute to the growth and popularity of Formula One in the United States."
"Derek is a pivotal part of our broadcasting team," said Jeff Hallas, Director of Production for Speedvision. "Derek's past F1 experience, overall racing knowledge and absolute enthusiasm makes him an invaluable asset to our audience. We are extremely proud to have him anchoring our Formula One coverage."
In addition to his duties on the Formula One broadcasts, Daly will also continue his work with the IRL and Trans Am series, as well as unprecedented live coverage of the world famous 24 Hours of LeMans race in June. Daly started in television with ESPN in 1985, working on their Indy car and F1 coverage until 1996 when he joined Speedvision. He also currently works with TNN, WISH-TV Indianapolis and KTNV-TV Las Vegas. Along with his broadcasting duties, Daly is the owner of SpeedCentre Racing School at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
