ALLSTAR SPRINTS: Lososki Continues Streak

10 February 1998

BARBERVILLE, FL - Danny Lasoski continued his dominance of the AllStars Florida Speedweeks by claiming his third win in a row at Volusia Speedway Park.

The Chevrolet pace truck led Butlerbuilt Hot Seat pole sitter Lance DeWease and twenty three others to green flag. Outside front row starter Frankie Kerr jumped out to the early lead followed by DeWease Gary Wright, Lasoski, and Travis Whitney. Kenny Jacobs moved into fifth on lap five and the lead pack waged a torrid battle for the front spot. A yellow on lap eight for Brian Paulus bunched the field up before the tussle resumed.

Seventh starting Jeff Shepard moved into the top five the following lap as K. Jacobs drifted high in turn four. Lasoski had moved the Chris Black Eagle / Wesmar into third and took second on lap ten. Shepard then jumped from fifth to third on lap 11 and Lasoski claimed the lead on lap 12, just before the yellow appeared for DeWease.

Lasoski kept his Goodyear shod machine in front Kerr as Wright, Shepard, and Dean Jacobs engaged in a fierce battle. Lap 16 saw Shepard move his Double L Maxim / Kriner / Goodyear machine to second and set sail for Lasoski. A yellow appeared again with two laps remaining for Wright and set up the chance for Shepard to be the one to end Danny's winning streak.

As Shepard chased Lasoski, D. Jacobs moved the Asworth Schnee / Kriner / Goodyear into third. Jeff had no chance to make a move for the lead as Danny pulled out to win by a few car lengths. Shepard and D. Jacobs followed. Todd Shaffer had his best night so far, as he placed the Beam Eagle / Kriner / Goodyear in the fourth spot. Kerr brought the Shoff Eagle / Brown / Goodyear machine home fifth.

Lasoski once again swept the night as he set fast time and won the United Expressline heat. D. Jacobs claimed the Southwest Expressline heat, K. Jacobs garnered the Southwest Glass heat, and John Bankston crossed the line first in the United Specialties heat. DeWease was the victor of the United Expressline B-Main.
