STROUD TAKES PIRELLI CHAMPIONSHIP BONUS

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- American Motorcylcist Association / Pirelli Formula
Xtreme 1997 Series Champion Andrew Stroud recently collected the top
championship bonus from series title sponsor Pirelli. Nine other Formula
Xtreme riders were also recipients of the Pirelli $10,000 championship
bonus fund.

Stroud, of Auckland, New Zealand, won seven of nine 1997 Pirelli Formula
Xtreme races and finished second in the remainder. A string of wins in the
beginning of the season established Stroud as the contender, and he locked
up the championship early with a win at the eighth round of the season in
Sonoma, Calif.

Pirelli -- manufacturer of performance tires and world-wide sponsor of
championship motorsports -- will remain as the AMA Formula Xtreme title
sponsor for the 1998 season.
