Gumout To Sponsor Bahari, Cope in 1998

HOUSTON (November 11, 1997) -- Pennzoil Products Company announced today that Gumout will sponsor the Bahari' Pontiac driven by Derrike Cope in the 1998 Winston Cup season.Derrike Cope "We are excited about our first venture in NASCAR's Winston Cup series," said Luis Del Valle, Gumout brand manager. "In addition to being avid racing enthusiasts, NASCAR fans are known to take great interest in the maintenance and performance of their personal vehicles, and many of them rely on Gumout. Consequently, we are pleased to be able to give something back to race fans and our loyal customers by sponsoring the Bahari' team." Bahari' owner Chuck Rider said, "It's exciting to represent Gumout as our major sponsor in 1998, and we are looking forward to a great year." Rider noted the Bahari' team, led by Crew Chief Doug Hewitt, is making some significant changes for next season. "We are starting an in-house chassis program that we feel will pay dividends during the season, and our new SB2 engine program will be one of the best in the sport. Our goal is to put Derrike Cope in Victory Lane and give Gumout an exciting year." Pennzoil has sponsored cars fielded by Bahari' Racing since 1991. In September, Pennzoil and Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI) signed a three-year agreement to field a Chevrolet Monte Carlo for rookie driver Steve Park on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit beginning at the 1998 Daytona 500. The Gumout brand offers a full line of care-car products, including the new Gumoutr Long Life FormulaÖ, which will be featured on the #30 car. Gumout also offers automotive chemical products that clean, protect, and improve performance, including America's best-selling carburetor and choke-cleaner, Gumout Jet Spray.
