AMA: Brown and Bowen Win at Fall Classic and Four-Stroke Nationals

R97144 November 4, 1997 For Immediate Release BROWN AND BOWEN TAKE WINS, BONUSES AT AMA FALL CLASSIC & EASTERN FOUR-STROKE NATIONALS WESTERVILLE, Ohio --Re-defining the world domination in the American Motorcyclist Association Fall Classic 250cc Open Motocross Championship, defending champion Mike Brown sealed this year's title with an impressive six overall wins in six rounds. In his usual style, the Yamaha-mounted Brown took the final series win Nov. 2 in Society Hills, S.C., sealing his third title in five seasons. For his efforts, Brown, of Piney Flats, Tenn., takes home $2,000 in bonuses from racing apparel producer Dirt Shirts and performance motocross parts manufacturer FMF. Second-place series finisher and AMA Motocross Rookie of the Year Brock Sellards, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, took home $1,000 from Dirt Shirts and FMF. In the AMA Silent Sport Eastern Four-Stroke Motocross Series, run in conjunction with the Fall Classic, defending champion Keith Bowen, riding for KTM, took his second consecutive title with a near-perfect season. Bowen, of Sumerset, Ky., took the checkers in five of the six series rounds, an effort that won him $2,000 from Series sponsor Silent Sport America, the worlds leading manufacturer of packing for use in motorcycle exhaust systems.
