NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series No Fear Challenge Preview: #20, Butch Miller
14 October 1997
Walker Evans Racing Unveils New Look for Fontana Mooresville, NC (October 13, 1997) -- Those who have become familiar with the white #20 Orleans Hotel & Casino Chevrolet driven by Butch Miller this season on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series circuit will be surprised to see the "Green 'Gator" on the track this weekend for the No Fear Challenge at the new California Speedway. "We just decided to come out with a little different look for the final races of the season," said team owner Phyllis Evans. "With the logo of the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas as a trumpet-playing alligator, it was a natural for us to field a green truck for the west coast superspeedways. Maybe the green truck will give us a little luck through the final races of the season! We're tenth in points right now, and all the guys on both teams- east coast and west coast- have worked real hard to get us up front and in Victory Lane before this season is over. That 'Gator is going to be growling before we're done!" The Walker Evans Racing team has combined east coast and west coast operations for the final races of the 1997 season, with Evans' off-road Riverside, California shop playing home to the team from their Mooresville, North Carolina facility. "The marriage between the guys from Mooresville and the guys from Riverside is going real well," said crew chief Todd Myers. "Putting all the brains together has been a valuable learning situation for us, and we're looking forward to pounding out some good finishes for the rest of the season. We've got some tremendous talent behind the wheel in Butch Miller, and working with Walker's off-road team has added to the tremendous talent we've had on the crew. I believe our team is very fortunate to not only have a great facility to work in while we are on the west coast swing, but to have Randy Anderson and the west coast crew's talent to draw from to increase our overall success this year." "We should do very well in Fontana," said driver Butch Miller. "We went there and tested along with the other teams. No one in this race will have much experience at this new racetrack, but the track itself is very user-friendly." Miller, with five championship titles to his race record and over 400 career victories, is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the final races as the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series 1997 season draws to a close.
