BOSTROM WINS FINAL PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE
HARLEY-DAVIDSON SUPERTWINS SERIES

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Californian Eric Bostrom will go down in AMA Pro
Racing history as the final champion of the Progressive Insurance
Harley-Davidson SuperTwins Series. An Aug. 31 win at Sears Point gave
Bostrom an insurmountable 45-point lead over his nearest competitor winning
him the championship regardless of who wins the Las Vegas season finale.

Bostrom established a solid lead in the road race series by riding his
Miller Electric Harley-Davidson 883cc Sportster to nine wins in the 10
SuperTwins races. He conceded a victory only once, placing fourth at
Pikes Peak International Raceway in August after his machine slowed
with mechanical problems.

Bostrom has spent the better part of his life racing motorcycles,
beginning when he was seven years old and turning pro at 16. He has
had great success in the Harley-Davidson 883 Dirt Track Series, taking
that championship in 1996. He has been ranked in the top 10 of the
SuperTwins series for three years, taking fourth place in 1995 and
sixth in 1996.

After a successful nine-year run, the Progressive Insurance
Harley-Davidson SuperTwins Series will come to a close at Las
Vegas. The class will be remembered as an inexpensive training ground
for aspiring young racers. Riders like Eric's older brother, Ben
Bostrom, Aaron Yates, Mike Hale and Tripp Nobles all honed their
skills on Harley 883cc Sportsters before moving on to AMA Superbike
racing.

A new chapter will open in 1998 when the Progressive Insurance Pro
Thunder Series kicks off. Harley-Davidson Sportsters will still be a
staple of the new series, but the class is expanding to include other
brands of motorcycles.
