NASCAR Busch North Series Report: CMT 100

15 September 1997

LOUDON, NH - September in New Hampshire seems to be kind to Ted Christopher
of Plainville, Conn. as he made it two wins in two years at New Hampshire
International Speedway cruising to the victory in the Country Music
Television 100 for the NASCAR Busch North Series, Grand National Division.

Jamie Aube of N, Ferrisburg, Vt. set the fast qualifying time, and led the
first two laps from his pole position start, but NASCAR Winston Cup driver
Ricky Craven overtook Aube to lead lap three.

Kelly Moore of Scarborough, Me. drove underneath Craven to lead the next
lap, but Craven fought back to head the pack for the next seven circuits.
Looking for his first win in two years, Moore drove past Craven to lead the
next 27 laps.

Craven seemed bent on a successful homecoming, though, and he again passed
Moore to lead laps 39 through 57. Christopher, who had started fifth, then
took the lead on lap 58 and never looked back. It was his third career NASCAR
Busch North Series win, and his second 1997 victory.

Moore held off Craven for the runner-up slot while Craven locked up third at
the checkered flag. Mike Stefanik of Coventry, R.I. and Jerry Marquis of
Broad Brook, Conn. rounded out the top five.

Top-five finishes by Stefanik and Marquis coupled with a 29th place finish by
Dave Dion of Hudson, N.H. juggled the points standings going into the final
race of the year at Lime Rock Park on October 18. Stefanik now leads Marquis
2895-2834. Dion is now third with 2820.
