DAYTONA BEACH - The 17th race of the 1997 NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour, 
The Ruffles 150, is scheduled for Aug. 23-24 at Watkins Glen International in
Watkins Glen, N.Y. It will be the second, and final appearance this season at 
Watkins Glen for the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour. Tim Connolly was the
winner of the Polaroid 125 in June.

 - Posted awards for the 150-kilometer, 38-lap race are $88,220.

 - At 2.45 miles, Watkins Glen is the longest track the series will race on 
in 1997.

 - European Style Qualifying is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Aug. 23, and will 
determine the first 30 positions. Four more provisional positions will be
available to drivers in the Top-35 in the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour 
Point standings.

 - The Ruffles 150 will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN2. Starting time 
for the race is 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug 24.

 - This will be the series' third appearance ever on a road course. The 
first occurred at Watkins Glen on August 25, 1996. Mike Stefanik was the 
winner of that race.

 - The series qualifying record at Watkins Glen is 118.708 mph (1 minute, 
14.3 seconds) set by Steve Park August 24, 1996.

 - As of Aug. 18, 36 drivers have filed entries for the Ruffles 150.

 - To date, 94 different drivers have attempted to qualify for at least one 
series race in 1997.
