MotorVac Offers Alternative to Alternative Fuels for Cleaner Air

6 August 1997

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pollution: With cleaner burning reformulated gasoline formulas
under fire, more attention is being given to cleaning engines
to reduce pollutants released into the air.

SANTA ANA, CA..--MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether), a gasoline additive
acclaimed for bringing about significant smog reductions in California
(the state acknowledged to have the nations worst air quality), is now
under serious attack as a carcinogen and as a threat to drinking water
supplies. At present, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is
proposing legislation that would require detailed health studies of MTBE;
developing methods of preventing the chemical from seeping into water
storage supplies; and, in the extreme, considering an outright ban on the
once praised formula. The city of Santa Monica, CA are discussing this
very subject, triggered by leaking fuel storage facilities that are
permeating water supplies. Concerns have been raised by CARB that if
MTBE is banned, the result would be a return to dirtier air.

While air quality boards are searching for cleaner gasoline that does not
create its own negative side effects, they should also be closely
examining private enterprise technology that already exists to determine
the validity of their claims of reducing the harmful pollutants caused by
auto exhaust emissions. The range of products claiming to help improve
automotive performance and reduce harmful emissions is great.

One such emission reduction system that significantly puts the brakes on
pollutants by cleaning built-up contaminants from the fuel systems of
cars and trucks is the MotorVac
CarbonClean System. Independent laboratory tests, using Federal Testing
Procedures (FTP) and certified by both CARB and the EPA, have shown that
engines cleaned by a MotorVac service release an average of 16.8% fewer
hydrocarbons (HC) and 14.5% less carbon monoxide (CO) into the
environment. This system consists of a proprietary cleaning detergent
and mechanical cleaning machine. The cleaning process, which must be
completed by a professional technician, reduces harmful emissions,
enhances engine performance and improves gas mileage by removing dirt,
carbon deposits and other contaminants from the fuel systems of both
gasoline and diesel-powered engines.

Lee Melody, President and CEO of MotorVac Technologies said, _This is not
a genie in a bottle, as some off-the-shelf additives would like you to
believe. It is a well researched, sophisticated procedure that takes
about an hour and costs an average of about $90 to complete. You can
feel the results in your engine_s performance, breathe the results in
better air, and see them in your smog check test,_ says Melody, who is
also a member of the Environment Committee of the U.S. Chamber of
Commerce. MotorVac offers a money back guarantee to any motorist who
isn_t satisfied and doesn_t _feel_ the difference in the performance of
their car, as long as their car was serviced at one of the over 5000
authorized dealerships in the U.S. A web site has been established at
www.motorvac.com to provide information and research data to those
interested.
