Charlotte, N.C. (July 22, 1997)---Wes Ward has been appointed Director of
Racing Operations for Diamond Ridge Motorsports effective immediately.

"To perform you must have the right combination of driver, equipment and
personnel," explained Gary Bechtel, owner of Diamond Ridge Motorsports.
"We feel Wes Ward will complete our program.

"Bill Ingle worked tenaciously on our racing operation, but we were not
producing the expected results. We wish him the best in his future

"I am looking forward to working with Wes again," said Jeff Green, driver
of the #29 Cartoon Network Chevrolet fielded by Diamond Ridge Motorsports
on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit. "We have good lines of communication
and a close working relationship."

"I welcome the opportunity to work with Jeff again," said Ward. "We are
very comfortable with each other and I think together we can build a
winning team."

Ward served as Green's crew chief earlier this year on the NASCAR Busch
Series circuit. The dynamic combination was a serious contender for the
1997 NASCAR Busch Series championship, winning the inaugural race at Las
Vegas Motor Speedway and accumulating six top fives, seven top tens, two
poles and one outside pole in just 14 NASCAR Busch Series starts.

Ward, 34, began his racing career as a driver compiling 18 career wins in
the late model stock division before retiring in 1988. Ward then started
his own business building late model stock cars for local competitors. By
1990, racing fever had struck again and Ward was on the circuit as a crew
member for Tommy Houston at DHART Racing. In 1992, Ward moved across town
to the DAJ racing shops of Dale Jarrett. He worked for four years under
the guidance of long-time crew chief John Erwin and in May of 1996 was
promoted to crew chief. Ward joined Diamond Ridge Motorsports in September
1996, but returned to DAJ racing when Green moved up to the NASCAR Winston
Cup circuit in May of this year.
