Honda Affiliated Part Makers Plan Indian Production Base

Nikkei English News reports that three auto parts manufacturers affiliated with Honda will forge joint ventures in India to supply Honda's Indian unit with locally made parts as early as next year.
Yutaka Giken Company will establish a 50-50 venture to make 30,000 exhaust system components each year starting in Spring 1998. The venture will be formed with an Indian firm and will be called Yutaka PGT India.
F.C.C. Company also plans to establish a 50%-50% joint venture with an Indian firm in January. The venture will manufacture clutch parts starting next summer, with a production goal of 30,000 parts annually by the year 2000.
Toyo Roki Manufacturing Co--a filter maker--has also signed a new contract this month. It will work with the Indian firm Lumax Industries to supply production knowledge on air filters.
