Chevrolet to Drop Geo Name

Citing increased international recognition of the Chevrolet brand name, General Motors has announced that it will no longer sell vehicles under the Geo logo. GM will continue to market the Geo Prizm, Tracker, and Metro models, but as Chevrolet products.
Stated Chevrolet General Manager John Middlebrook, "This is not a product issue. It's a brand issue." He indicated that it was part of GM's recent move toward the unification of its many brand names.
The new 1998 Prizm and Metro autos will be the first to display the new Chevrolet name. A restyled Tracker will be released later in the year.
