Bridgestone to Upgrade Overseas Plants

Leading tire manufacturer Bridgestone Corp. will begin equipping its overseas plants in Europe and Southeast Asia with its new "Donuts" technology starting next year. The company hopes that the new technology -- which will improve product quality -- will enable them to increase their global market share from 18% to 20% by the year 2000.

Donuts (an acronym for Driver-Oriented New Ultimate Tire Science) is a computerized design system developed by Bridgestone in 1994.
