Mitsubishi Designs New Emissions Control Device
12/12/96
Nikkei English News reports that Mitsubishi has developed a system to reduce exhaust from trucks and buses. The company plans to deliver 30 of the pollution-control devices for buses to the Yokohama municipal government by spring 1997.
The company says its new DDP system contains a ceramic filter that can be used for up to 60,000 kilometers, the average annual distance that a bus would cover.
Mitsubishi says the DDP system allows vehicles to pass Japan's target for long-term gas-emission reduction regulations, which will take effect in 1998. The company says the device can be easily installed on existing vehicles.
