Mitsubishi Uses German Suspension
12/10/96
Nikkei English News reports that Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has begun to import suspension units from German auto-parts maker Fichtel & Sachs AG, an affiliate of Mannesmann AG. The German suspension systems are self-leveling suspensions that use energy acquired from the vehicle's own motion to automatically offset vehicle tilt. The system consolidates the pump, chamber, shock absorbers and other parts into one housing unit. Mitsubishi officials say the compact component arrangement on the new system gives their vehicles more trunk storage space. Mitsubishi will offer the new suspension as an option on its Legnum station wagons.
