Chrysler's November Sales Up only 1.4%

12/04/96

Reuters reports that the sales record Chrysler's Corporation announced for November represented only a 1.4% rise year-on-year rise, a notable sales slowdown for the company, the smallest monthly increase they've seen all year. Analysts have taken Chrysler's sales figures as a sign that November will be an overall weak month for Detroit's Big Three carmakers.

In spite of the fact that Chrysler's 179,628 vehicle sales set a record for the month of November and brought its year-to-date sales to 2,271,022, another record, the corporation's daily selling rate fell 11 percent against last month's figures. The rate for trucks and sport utility vehicles was up 7 percent.
