12/02/96
Comline reports that Honda Motor upped its estimates for the number of autos it would sell worldwide in 1996 by 293,000. The new estimate brings the company's projected global sales to 2,180,000 units. If the automaker meets its plan, this year will mark the first time Honda's worldwide sales exceed 2 million. The company's global sales plans for this year project a 15.5 percent increase in Japan, a 12% increase on the U.S. market, a 9.9% increase in Europe, and a 35.1% increase in Asia. The company is expanding its production capacities in Europe, America, and Asia and reorganizing by transferring authority to its various regional headquarters in proportion to the scale of its expansion.
