Nissan Announces Recall of 84,000 Vehicles

11/29/96

Voluntary Recall Campaign Announced By Nissan

CARSON, Calif., Nov. 26 -- Nissan Motor Corporation
U.S.A., distributor of Nissan cars and trucks, announced today a
voluntary recall campaign affecting approximately 60,000 1994 model
year Trucks, built from November 1993 through April, 1994 and 24,000
1994 model year Pathfinders built from November 1993 and March 1994 to
inspect and replace, as necessary, front seat belt buckles.

Nissan reported that due to a manufacturing tolerance error, the seat
belt tongue may not fully engage if it is not firmly inserted into the
buckle. This may result in the seat belt becoming unfastened in the
event of a collision or hard braking of the vehicle. To date, no
injuries have been reported as a result of this situation. Nissan will
inspect the seat belt buckles and replace, if necessary, at no charge
to the customer.

Owners of affected vehicles will be officially notified of the recall
campaign in letters mailed on December 2, 1996.
