Chassis-Sharing to cut Development Costs for Mazda
11/26/96
Nikkei English News reports that Mazda Motor Corp. hopes to slash its car development costs by using one basic chassis design for several sports-utility vehicles. The company announced the move as part of its restructuring to combat operating losses and weak domestic sales.
Mazda and its major shareholder Ford Motor Company plan to share common chassis designs for their cars worldwide beginning in 1999.
