CART/IndyCar Rookie Gualter Salles Shows Impressively During Test
11/25/96
The Ex-Jim Hall Indy Car team, now named Davis/Craig Racing, participated in tire tests at Homestead Motor Speedway with its new driver Gualter Salles, and proved to be "in the hunt" with seasoned Indy Car veterans. Salles ran 214 miles and had a lap of 30.24 seconds. Vet Al Unser allowed that Galles was impressive. Others testing were Jimmy Vasser, Firestone and Christain Fittipaldi, Goodyear tires. In earlier testing at Firebird Raceway, Arizona, Galles was as quick as the driver he replaced, Gil De Ferran.
