October Car Sales Crowns Go To Toyota, Chrysler

Chrysler Corp had its best October sales period ever, with a gain of 23.1 percent over last year, bringing total units sold to 205,393. That figure broke a 24 year-old record and included records for Dodge Trucks, Jeep, Dodge Caravan, and Chrysler Town & Country vans. Toyota recorded a 20.2 percent sales increase over October, 1995, spurred mostly by rising Camry and Lexus ES300 sales.
