11/19/96
Rockwell Automotive Adds Wheel-End Seals to Aftermarket Portfolio FLORENCE, Ky., Nov. 15 -- Rockwell Automotive announced an important milestone for its Aftermarket Parts and Services (AP&S) business by the signing of an agreement with Triseal LLC of Hebron, Ill., to distribute oil bath wheel-end seals. From its aftermarket distribution facilities in Florence, Ky. and Brampton, Ont., the seals will be distributed to OEM dealer and independent distributor customers beginning in January 1997. Initially, two different wheel seals will be marketed to cover a wide variety of Class 6, 7 and 8 linehaul vehicle applications. The seals will be marketed under the brand name Maximum Value and Performance (MVP), signifying their quality construction, proven performance and cost effectiveness. The MVP, a unique, one-piece seal design, virtually eliminates seal leak downtime and maintenance costs by compensating for spindle imperfections and improperly adjusted bearings. The MVP II, a two-piece leather wheel seal, was designed for extreme operating environments and features a specially-treated leather sealing element with a unique dust exclusion wiper. The distribution agreement with Triseal expands Rockwell's comprehensive breadth of genuine aftermarket components and "moves our company one step closer to becoming a complete undercarriage supplier to the heavy truck industry," commented Thomas A. Gosnell, general manager of AP&S. "The decision to enter into this agreement was based on Triseal's expertise in providing unique solutions to the challenges of sealing heavy vehicle wheel ends," Gosnell said. "In Triseal, we have a valuable design partner that has a proven premium wheel-end seal that virtually eliminates those leaks." "We are looking forward to combining our experience in the design, manufacture and installation of wheel-end sealing systems with Rockwell's expertise in the distribution of heavy vehicle components," said David Kaminski, general manager of Triseal. "Triseal is extremely pleased to be teamed with Rockwell in this effort, and we anticipate future developments of advanced wheel-end sealing systems through joint efforts of Rockwell and Triseal engineering design teams." Triseal has also developed a premium tool to help ensure proper seal installation. The tool is manufactured to precise tolerances and specifications to help eliminate misalignment and damage during installation, addressing the common failure cause of improper installation. Triseal, founded in 1985, designs and manufactures highly advanced wheel-end sealing systems for the North American heavy truck market. Current product lines include one- and two-piece oil bath wheel seals for front steer, drive and trailer axles covering Class 6, 7 and 8 heavy trucks.
