11/14/96
European motorists, long cost conscious re the operation of an automobile due to high petrol prices are now recognizing the value of the van in its MINI configuration. Several European car makers are bringing out minivans including Renault; Citroen; Fiat; and Toyota Europe, which has a unit called the FFV for "Family Fun Vehicle." Detroit is not far behind, as Chrysler is putting up a plant in Austria, Ford is making minis in Portugal, and GM's Opel division has one called the Sintra.
