Chrysler International Announces October Sales
11/07/96
Chrysler International Sales Continue to Rise
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 5 -- The sale of Chrysler
and Jeep(R) vehicles outside of North America continues at a
brisk pace, up 26 percent for the month of October and up 18 percent
for the calendar year-to-date.
Chrysler posted sales of 19,975 units in October, up from 15,813 units
during the same period last year. Sales in the Europe and Asia-Pacific
regions posted 7,973 and 7,764 respectively for the month, reflecting
the success of Voyager minivans in Europe and Jeep Cherokees in Asia.
On a percentage basis, the Latin America region and the Middle
East/Africa region led the way with sales increases of 69 percent and
57 percent respectively, due to the large increases in the sale of
Chrysler Neon and Stratus sedans.
"The introduction of Chrysler passenger cars around the world is
beginning to make a real impact, supplementing our strong minivan and
Jeep sales," said Thomas C. Gale, Chrysler Executive Vice President of
International Operations and Product Design. "Due in large part to our
passenger vehicle sales, Chrysler International was able to eclipse
last year's sales record with two months remaining. We are now on
track to easily surpass the 200,000 unit sales mark for 1996."
Since 1990, Chrysler International has enjoyed double-digit sales
growth and currently sells vehicles in over 100 countries worldwide.
