GM Announces October's Domestic Sales

October 1996 GM US Press Release (All percentages are on a selling day adjusted basis October 1995 - 26 days and October 1996 - 27 days) GM Truck * Following on an all-time model year record, GM truck sales set an October record up 22% over October 1995. - Chevrolet truck sales also set an October record and were up 22% compared to last year. Chevrolet utility sales continue their blistering pace in October. All-time monthly sales records were set by Blazer (+35%). Tahoe (+48%) and Suburban (+63%). C/K Pickup sales were up 29% over October 1995. In vans, Astro sales were up 20%. - Setting another October record, GMC sales were up 22% over last year. GMC utility performance was very strong, with Suburban (+196%) setting an all-time monthly sales record and Jimmy sales up 16%. GMC pickup performance was also strong with Sierra sales up 23% setting an October record. In addition, Sonoma sales were up 10%. In vans, Safari sales were up 44%. - Oldsmobile truck sales were up l98% over last year, led by all-time monthly record sales of Bravada. GM Passenger Car * GM passenger car sales in October were down 24% compared to October 1995. - For Chevrolet, Metro sales were up 3% and Cavalier sales were up 2% over October 1995. - For Oldsmobile, Aurora sales were up 7% and Cutlass Supreme sales were up 4%. - For Buick, Skylark sales were up 37% over last year. - Sales of Cadillac's new fun-to-drive luxury car, Catera began in October.
